We're inviting designers to envision a new generation of detached accessory dwellings — homes that champion the well being of all regardless of age or ability, enabling safe and independent living for everyone.

Designers and design students — whether working independently or as part of a firm or team — are welcome to enter.​

ELIGIBILITY

Eligible participants include design and construction professionals, including interns who work or have worked in the nine-county Kansas City metropolitan region, as well as architecture students attending university in Kansas or Missouri.

WEBINARS

We're offering two free webinars to help participants understand the basics of universal design, the competition scope, design criteria, and submission process. The first webinar will review the design criteria, and submission process. The second webinar will dive deeper into designing for aging in place. Visit the Webinar page to register for the webinars and view recordings will be made available after each session.
