Brief

We're inviting designers to envision a new generation of detached accessory dwellings — homes that champion the wellbeing of all ages and abilities, enabling safe and independent living for everyone.

As the Kansas City region ages rapidly, most existing homes were never designed with older adults in mind. Narrow doorways, stairways, poor lighting, and inaccessible spaces turn everyday routines into hazards — and leave many residents unable to age in place with dignity.
